Character
Education
As an educational institution,
The Willows prepares its students for the future academically, but,
even more importantly, it prepares them to be responsible adults
committed to that which makes life worth living - family, church,
profession, and society.
Willows' teachers provide
many opportunities for their students to learn virtues and values
through their classroom expectations. By creating caring but challenging
classrooms coupled with high behavioral expectations, they foster
virtues such as charity, cooperation, neatness, respect, responsibility,
punctuality, hard work, honesty and preparedness. Willows teachers
know that they are not simply instructors, but above all, they are
educators of character.
The Willows Character Education
Program begins in the 6th grade and continues until students graduate
as seniors. Building good character takes many years of effort and,
therefore, The Willows Character Education Program is best accomplished
in the 7-year progression. Throughout their years at The Willows,
students do not simply learn isolated virtues - they learn to become
virtuous people.
